Big Horn County Fair
Basin, Wyoming, 82410
August 2nd to 8th
Big Horn County Fair
The first Bighorn County Fair had horse races, boxing matches, speeches by dignitaries
from across the state, essays by
school children, and exhibits of animals and farm and garden produce. The winner
of the essay contest about the horse and its
use in farming won a horse, and the winner of the essay about the cow actually
won a dairy heifer. Other prizes are said to
have included magazine subscriptions, books, halters and other animal handling
equipment. Later Fairs have what is now
described as the best fairgrounds in the state. The Fair’s schedule can
be found on the Fair Information bar, and it should be
noted that the majority of the agricultural events will be taking place between
Wednesday and Friday. The Parade and rodeo
will be on Saturday August 7th.
