The Wild Rose is a growing Medieval Faire located in rural Columbus, Pennsylvania. This will be the Faire’s 6th year. We have 3 stages with live performances including fire breathing, music, and comedy for adults and kids both! Live combat takes place on the chess board and good food can be found at the vendor stands. Handmade crafts, weapons, and trinkets are bountiful with a special kid’s area featuring crafts and activities. Patrons are encouraged to dress in garb and immerse themselves in the lifestyle of another time!
Faire takes place weekends only. Fair dates: June 2-3, 9-10, 16-17.

The Big Spring Event & Activities Center will host an indoor Farmers Market on Saturday mornings from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. during June, July, and August at the facility located at 2 Chestnut Street, Newville.
Farmers Market Vendors Wanted: Vendors are invited to bring local vegetables, fruits, baked goods, and other market items for sale. Vendors may begin setting up at 7:00 a.m. Vendor spaces are 12’ x 7’ and are available for $10.00 per day. This space does not include a table. If you want us to provide a table and one chair, the cost is an additional $5.00 and tables are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Vendors can register for a space in advance by contacting the Big Spring Event & Activities Center at 717-331-7391 or register the day you plan to attend the Farmers Market. Spaces are limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
Dept. of Agriculture Compliance: Vendors selling items at the Farmers Market are responsible to be sure they are in compliance with the Bureau of Food Safety through the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. Requirements and guidelines are available online at http://www.agriculture.state.pa.us/ or you can call 717-787-4315.
Public Invited: Come out to the Big Spring Event & Activities Center at 2 Chestnut Street in Newville on Saturday mornings over the summer between 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to see what local fare is available. Parking is available in the public parking area across Route 233 on East Liberty Avenue behind the Newville Historical Society. There is also public parking available at the Boy Scout facility on Vine Street. NOTE: No Farmers Market on June 18, July 16, or July 23, 2011.

Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS) Pops Up Garden

PHS’s Pops Up Garden is located at 20th and Market, and is open each Wednesday and Thursday from noon to 2:00pm. Garden walks are held daily, and the Science in the Garden with The Franklin Institute for kids runs at 12:30pm every other Wednesday. Additionally, a special movie night is scheduled for 8/14, 8:30-9:30pm. All PHS Pops Up events are free and open to the public (unless otherwise noted), weather permitting. The Garden is only around this summer until mid-October, so stop by soon!
