Ely Winter Festival offers an Amateur Snow Carving Workshop followed by an Amateur Snow Carving Contest, you can also watch the best Snow Sculptors from all over the world carve huge blocks of compressed snow in Ely's Whiteside Park. There is an arts and crafts fair at Ely Community Center Cafeteria, you can even treat yourself to a Dog Sled Ride followed by sitting by a winter bonfire, complimentary hot cocoa, tea or coffee, cookies and fresh popcorn and finish off your day at the Mukluk Ball. Many of the events are free and many others do have admission fees with much of it donated back to good causes including supporting this winter festival.
