Children's Week 2010 Augusta, Georgia October 1st to October 7th Children's Week 2010
Children’s Week activities are coordinated by a committee of Augusta Partnership for Children, Inc. partner organizations and agencies and the community. There are activities for almost every day of the week and something for everyone to enjoy. As Children’s Week continues to grow, we are always looking for volunteers, sponsors and donations to make this event a success. Children’s Week activities include the following:
1.Kick-Off Celebration – Friday, Oct. 1, 10:15 - 11:00am
Location: Jessye Norman Amphitheatre
Description: Head Start Pre-K and daycare students from Richmond and surrounding county schools, as well as parents and teachers are invited to attend the Kick-Off Celebration. This activity proclaims the week as Children’s Week and includes a proclamation by the mayor or appointed commissioner, performances and a headlining act by Georgia Public Broadcasting PBS characters (i.e. Caillou, Clifford, Doc Neil, Curious George, Super Why!).
2.Talent Takeover – Saturday, Oct. 2, 4:00 - 6:00pm
Location: Glenn Hills Middle School
Description: Children, youth and teens ages 5-18 and family acts are encouraged to showcase their talent before Augusta in a talent show format. All acts are judged by persons in the entertainment industry and winners receive cash prizes and trophies. This year’s Talent Takeover will feature a headlining performance by musical artist and actress Kayte Grace. Kayte will also serve as a guest judge.
3.Family Festival/Education Fair – Sunday, Oct. 3, 1:00 - 5:00pm
Location: 8th Street Plaza, Riverwalk
Description: Over 30 youth serving agencies/organizations and colleges and universities set-up display tables with information about their various programs and/or services. Along side the information are interactive games, give-a-ways and arts and crafts for the kids to enjoy. Musical artist and actress Kayte Grace will be the headliner with additional performance by local talent. Kayte will also be on hand to sign autographs and take pictures. The Festival will also feature food vendors.
4. Parade – Sunday, Oct. 3, 2:00 - 3:00pm
Location: Downtown Augusta
Description: Approximately 50 participants from local schools, universities/colleges, television and radio stations, businesses, and community groups participate in the Parade. The Parade route is set in Downtown Augusta along Broad Street beginning at 7th Street and ending at 11th Street. At the conclusion of the parade, a competition for best float will be held.

The Grayson High School Tip-Off Club presents the 2010 Grayson Fest – Arts & Crafts Show. The show will be held Saturday, October 23rd at Grayson High School in Loganville, Georgia from 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Grayson Fest will feature more than 100 exhibitors, food, and fun, for the entire family. You don’t want to miss this exciting event.
The Grayson High School Tip-Off Club is now accepting exhibitor and vendor applications. This event will feature juried and non-juried exhibitors. This is primarily an arts and crafts show. Therefore, the non-juried spaces will be limited.
This event is open to the public and will kick off the holiday shopping season. The proceeds will help fund Grayson High School’s basketball programs. Student volunteers will be available to assist vendors with unloading and loading as well as delivering lunches.
Our festival is widely publicized in area newspapers, on crafter websites, at local businesses and throughout the Gwinnett County community and schools. Please don’t hesitate to be a part of this event.
